Burgoyne Bay United Church

Burgoyne Bay United Church

Burgoyne Bay Union Church and Burgoyne Bay Methodist ChurchOriginally, Burgoyne Bay Union Church and Burgoyne Bay Methodist Church, built in 1887 to be shared by all the congregations in the southern part of Salt Spring Island. The land for the church was donated by Arthur Robinson. It was the north-east corner of his property facing Fulford-Ganges Road. The Anglican congregation soon moved out to the original Burgoyne School building, seen to the right in the photograph. The Methodist congregation remained in the Burgoyne Church building, which in 1925 became the United Church of Canada.

Recently cleared land with a snake type rail fence. The church building is a single room with 12 benches, a lectern, organ, and small furnace.
