What makes Islanders unique?
This question drives the work of the Seeds and Salt Theatre Company. Our mandate is to uncover the forgotten stories that have helped shape the Island today. We believe in order to understand who we are, we need to know where we’ve come from, so we strive to become story tellers and story keepers of the Island history.
Our program is comprised of short vignettes that are fast paced and entertaining for the entire family. The events we portray are those created by people whose struggles and triumphs are fading from common memory. Our characters are the men and women who were swept up by their passions and their circumstances. Audience members are encouraged to interact with our characters and share in the lives, loves, intrigues and heroic deeds of the past.
Our hope is that audiences will come away with a fresh knowledge and appreciation of the Island history. This is an opportunity to step back and look at our history in a new and exciting way, a chance to celebrate the forgotten, the humorous, the tragic and the sometimes not so heroic events of our past and the men and women, like ourselves, who made them happen.
We invite you to come be a part of this season’s stories, you will be surprised at how much there is to discover.
“This is our history, we need to cherish it”.
Performing on Salt Spring and Vancouver Island Communities from July 1-24, 2010.
