The Patterson Family History • A Fulford Story

PattersonThe November program of the Salt Spring Historical Society will feature the Patterson Family. Gladys Campbell [Patterson] will outline the family history from Beaver Point to Fulford Harbour. In 1915 William D. Patterson established the Beaver Point General Store at Beaver Point. Regular steam ship service provided the staples and the Beaver Point General Store served the Beaver Point area until 1951.

In 1951 the Patterson family moved their store from Beaver Point to Fulford Harbour near the ferry terminal. The original Patterson’s store was in the front of their house located across from the present store. Travelers regularly bought their coffee at Nan’s, their paper and gas at the store. In 2011 the store closed.

The Patterson were deeply involved in the community events in Fulford and they actively involved themselves in “all thing Fulford.” The Pattersons served on the volunteer fire department, organized community events and Bob was a School Trustee for the Fulford area.

Come to Central Hall on Nov 14, 2012 at 2PM to hear the Patterson Story and see a visual history of their accomplishments.
