Mr Arthur Shaw, who came to Salt Spring about 1908 and settled on a farm at Fulford Harbour. The Shaw family gave the land on which Fulford Hall is built and were supporters of St Mary's Church in Fulford Harbour. Before coming to Salt spring, the Shaws were missionaries in Japan, where their four children were born.
