FRED CLEMO
September 7, 1922 - September 15, 1942

Fred Clemo was born in Victoria on September 7, 1922. He was raised in the Protestant Orphanage. Soon after completing Grade VIII he came to Saltspring to work for Mr. Bullock.
Shortly after the war broke out in 1939, Fred joined the Royal Canadian Navy. He served in H.M.C.S. Ottawa, patrolling the North Atlantic. On September 15, 1942, 15 days after his 20th birthday, Fred Clemo lost his life when the H.M.C.S. Ottawa was sunk by enemy action.
