Wharf in Ganges Harbour (c1908) (Colin Mouat)
Standing off from the wharf is the "Ganges", the boat owned by Mouat Bros. In the foreground is
the "Victor", a launch belonging to Reid Bittancourt. Merchants in those days had to be mariners as well. Boats were needed to fetch purchases from city wholesale houses, to make deliveries to isolated settlers and to pick up produce from remote farms.
