Reverend Walter Scott 1799-1854
He moved from Rothwell, Northamptonshire to Bradford in 1834 to become
the Principle of the Airedale College ( a non conformist "Congregational"
school) until 1856. He was described by historian William Scruton as
being " a man of superior mental powers & rare virtues"
in the Congregational year Book 1859. It was noted that his voice was
husky & monotonous. He was highly regarded by his friends &
supporters of the college. In his will he left his estate to his wife
& children , the later when they came of age .
