I've sent a letter to the Hayward's Funeral Home in hopes their records may provide something. I haven't heard from them. The obituary says he was born in Nottingham, but it was actually Northamptonshire.
I can't find the little piece of paper to confirm what granny said about grandfather's employment, but I do remember it saying he had 20 years with the Government of BC. I just remember reading about the cook too somewhere.
I will definitely contact the Victoria Public Library regarding the directories. Hopefully this may be helpful.
I will also check out your photo's on the website. Maybe I will get lucky and see him. I do have some photo's of him when he was younger (late 1910's). He looked like a cowboy. This was when they lived in the Okotoks in Alberta.
I also did get his death certificate, but it didn't contain much information. Maybe I possibly got the wrong one. I will try again. The one I got just says his name and when & where he died.
This is one of only two photos I have of my grandfather in his later years and one when he was younger.
I'm also attaching one of his paintings.
