These eight interviews were recorded by Regan Shrumm as a part of her Salt Spring Arts Council's Artist in Residence that took place from January 8 to March 5, 2018.

During her residency, Shrumm researched female Salt Spring artists who had all built community on the island before the 1960s. This research resulted in the exhibition and publication, Forgotten Females of Salt Spring Island. As part of the exhibition, Shrumm recorded right Salt Spring female artists who have built community on the island in the present day.

By donating these interviews to the Salt Spring Island Archives, researchers and those generally interested may hear how artists continue to influence and guide community.
