| STARK, SYLVIA Sylvia Stark in her old age. The daughter of Howard and Hannah Estes, Sylvia, her father, husband, Louis Stark and several of her children, arrived on Salt Spring Island in 1860 after pre-empting land in 1859. Sylvia lived the rest of her life on Salt Spring Island. She died in 1944 at the age of 105.
