Ingrid Komer came to Salt Spring as a weekender in 1991 but by 1997 she and her husband Ernst were full time residents. Ingrid enjoys history. Before they left Vancouver, she and Ernst bought and totally restored a 1912 heritage house. It was a work of love.
An eclectic career life helped her develop many practical skills. Ingrid worked as a stenographer in her native Germany and in Canada she was, an office clerk, sales person, business woman and gallery owner. She now spends her time painting.
After Ernst passed away Barb Lingard introduced Ingrid to the Archives and there she found her niche. She is meeting people, learning new skills and contributing to the preservation on Salt Spring history.
